Ephesians 4:1-3 A Worthly Walk CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
When you got saved, God called you to a special job. This job is your vocation. Paul wanted the Ephesians to walk worthy of that call – I Tim 1:9; Phil 3:14. We are all called to pray (Lk 18:1), all called to witness (Acts 1:8), all called to do his will (I Th 4:3; 5:18; Rom 12:1-2; I Pet 2:15 do right). In addition to his will for you, he has a plan for you – i.e. a specific ministry. And when you do it he gives you guidelines. You are to do it in:
Lowliness (v. 2)
- Matt 11:29
- Ps 138:6
- Phil 2:3
Meekness (v. 2)
- Matt 11:29
- Gal 5:22-23
- Num 12:3
- Bowed his face and spared the Jews
Longsuffering
- I Cor 13:4
- Ex 34:6
- Gal 5:22
- Col1:11
Forbearance
- Exercising patience and restraint
- Refraining from enforcing rights
- Rom 3:25
- Col 3:13
Love
- I Jn 2:5-6
- I Jn 4:11-12
Unity of the Spirit (v. 3)
- Amos 3:3
- Rom 16:17-18
- Eph 4:4-6 (one)
Peace (v. 3)
- which is a Bond among believers
- Col 3:14-15
Walk like that and you’ll walk right into God’s plan. If you have to violate some of these, you are not in the plan.
