The modern movements are just that.  They are modern and they are movements.  They move you away from that which is RIGHT.  A lot of people aren’t going to listen until they see God and then they’ll straighten up.  Most are self-willed and covetous: “I like it;” “I want it;” “It has the right feeling;” “It hasn’t hurt me yet;” “It works.”  Take a person that has grown a big work by bringing the world into the church, has modern music, and has elevated his wife to co-pastor.  You are never going to convince him by the Bible that he is wrong because his own eyes and experiences prove to him that he is right.  Take this old fashioned notion that women are supposed to be submissive to their husbands.  It is out of place in our society where divorce, premarital sex, etc are normal.  Although I will teach on submission, my guess is that not one person will change their stance on the issue after this study.  Those who agree with me will amen and those who disagree will think that I’m crazy.  I saw that rock music was wrong, so I broke the albums and threw out the cassettes.  I saw that booze was wrong, so I threw it out (Acts 2:15).  I saw that TV was wrong, so I unplugged the cable.  “I will set no wicked thing before my eyes.”  So here the Bible says for wives to submit.

Because it is right

Because he is your head

3. It is ok to advise, but he still makes the decisions

Because of the church

1. At what point can the church tell Christ what to do?  We are subject to him.
2. Churches who are not subject to Christ by the word struggle
3. In everything, Prov 31:10

Because your husband loves you

1. Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church
2. Willing to give himself for her – Work and provisions – Attention and time – Care and affection – Fidelity – Discipline kids

Because Christ loved the church (v. 25)

1. Christ did it to sanctify and cleanse the church
2. Holy, no blemish, glorious
3. The more you love the better the relationship
4. Faults disappear

Because Christ loves his body (v. 28-32)

1. Body of Christ

Conclusion:  Love  your wife, reverence your husband
